Advocate for Tenant Opportunity to Purchase Act (TOPA)
Action Needed: Tell your elected officials to support Tenant Opportunity to Purchase (TOPA)
As a member of the Housing Justice League coalition, Neighbors for More Neighbors invites Minneapolis residents to contact their elected representatives and urge them to support Tenant Opportunity to Purchase (TOPA).
This policy would give every renter in Minneapolis the first right to purchase their building if their landlord decided to sell. The Housing Justice League has been fighting for a seat at the table for tenants in the form of Tenant Opportunity to Purchase (TOPA) for 7 years here in Minneapolis. Minneapolis is a majority renter city. It is time for every renter to have agency and a seat at the table to preserve the homes they’ve built and the roots they’ve set down.
To pass a strong TOPA policy for renters in Minneapolis by the end of the year, the city council needs to take action. Fill in your information using the link below to easily contact your City Councilperson and Mayor Frey!
Want to make an even bigger impact? Take any or all of the following steps in the TOPA Outreach Guide.
If you are interested in getting more involved with passing TOPA, Neighbors for More Neighbors is looking for volunteers to help with this work. Contact angela@moreneighbors.org to learn more.
