Black-led architecture firm builds formula for success.

Learn how MN is Legalizing Point Access Blocks.

The “Single-Egress Stairway Apartment Building Report” bill (HF 5242; See Section 46 lines 276.8 to 276.27) did not outright direct a building code change. What it did do is direct our Department of Labor and Industry to study fire safety in jurisdictions that already have single-stair/point access block buildings (like Seattle and New York City) up to 75 feet tall (about 6 stories) and compare actual life safety and overall safety of these buildings to current buildings that are legal here in Minnesota.

This report will then come back to the legislative committees with jurisdiction on homes and building codes for a future code change.

Volunteer Opportunities

  1. Interested in creating a Candidate Questionnaire for the upcoming general election? We would love to collaborate with other local orgs, collect questionnaire answers, and publish responses (similar to work N4MN did last year), however, we need at least 4 additional volunteers to step up for this 3-4 month project. Reply to this email if you can help.
  2. There's still room for additional volunteers on the State Policy Task Force. They are in need of someone who is detail-oriented & can help project manage as we prepare to advocate for abundant housing policies statewide! Reply to this email if you can help.
