🌎 Where in the world is N4MN? 🌎

Neighbors for More Neighbors recently endorsed The Homes Act in Washington DC.

The Homes Act is a bill which will build 1M new social and public homes over a decade, build union construction jobs, encourage tenant co-operatives and repeal a law which prohibits new federal money from going to public home building. We were thrilled to be invited by Senator Tina Smith to endorse the bill she is co-sponsoring with Rep. Alexandria Ocasio Cortez!

Brit Anbacht, board member and state policy wonk, was able to attend the press conference on 9/18, and has a forthcoming blog post we will share next month.

Andrea Riehl is heading to California for the North Bay Housing Solutions Summit.

Neighbors for More Neighbors was invited to join a talented panel from Minneapolis to speak about housing solutions that we've pushed forward here in Minnesota.

Continuing our work on the next cycle of comprehensive plans: Imagine 2050

The next cycle of comprehensive plans, Imagine 2050, is heating up at the Metropolitan Council. Recently four volunteers testified to Met Council about the need for more homes and better land use in the Twin Cities. The state policy task force led and the N4MN board approved official comments calling for more homes and more walkable complete neighborhoods. We also held a letter campaign via social media and helped 16 members submit comments to Met Council.

We hope to see your comments in the official record; and are looking forward to your support, and maybe testimony, at the state legislature this winter.

Land use, and the need for more homes in MN, is a regional problem and both Met Council and the State Legislature need your support to support building more homes.

Volunteer Opportunity

We're currently seeking additional assistance with planning and implementing our Annual Party! 🥳 Roles for this kind of volunteer opportunity look like:

  • Designing promotional materials
  • Finding a location to host a party
  • Brainstorming fun activities/ice breakers
  • Placing food orders
  • Lots more!

This is a great opportunity to get more involved with N4MN alongside other seasoned volunteers. We have a committed crew of 3 folks but need 2 more to pull this off together.
