Your Monthly N4MN Update 🍦 July 2026 🍦 💼 Join a Working Group! 💼 Get active with N4MN! With 26 representatives announcing their exit from the MN Legislature, the approaching election season could result in a record turnover of elected officials. That, along with the upcoming Minneapolis 2050 Comprehensive Plan, means that now is a great time to deepen your engagement with Neighbors for More Neighbors. We have volunteer opportunities to support more homes for any experience level through our Minneapolis Task Force, Finance Working Group, Communications Working Group, and Minnesota Listening Tour Task Force. We will set you up for success with training, education, and community! Join our Minnesota Listening Tour Task Force! This group will be meeting with community members across the state. Experience with N4MN policy priorities and grassroots organizing preferred for this group. Fill out our Form & Find your Group Today! 📆 Upcoming Events 📆 Monthly Member Social: Board Game Night Looking to meet other N4MN volunteers and have fun indoors? Join us tonight (Thursday, July 16th) for our monthly Member Social! We will be exploring the tile-based game Suburbia to practice building infrastructure for more homes and neighbors. The night starts at 6 PM at Queermunity. We hope to see you there! Come visit us at Northeast Park Fest! Gather for an evening of fun, food, and community! The annual Northeast Park Fest is happening Monday, July 20th at Northeast Recreation Center. N4MN will be tabling, so pick up some goodies, access resources, and chat about housing with our volunteers! Midwest Convening Happy Hour Neighbors for More Neighbors is hosting the Welcoming Neighbors Network Midwest Convening next week. As part of the festivities, we are hosting a happy hour Tuesday night from 5:30 to 7:30 at Graze Food Hall. Come socialize over drinks with pro-homes advocates from across the Midwest! Support Our Neighbors ❤️ Our neighbors continue to need support in the aftermath of Operation Metro Surge. Each month through the end of 2026, we will highlight a group you can support. This month, we are spotlighting mutual aid efforts going to North Minneapolis residents. Donate here. 📖 Rad Readings 📖 The bipartisan 21st Century ROAD to Housing Act became law on July 11th.  This is a huge step forward for housing and includes almost every good pro-housing bill introduced in Congress over the past few years. Read the full brief and get up-to-date on the changes. Last month, we shared about a new housing project that would add 104 units of senior housing near the Stone Arch Bridge. That project had its initial review by the Planning Commission Committee and received "very positive feedback" from the committee. The next step for the project is public engagement. Credit: Carlos Gonzalez / The Minnesota Star Tribune 1,000 housing units, including multifamily buildings, will be part of the planned redevelopment of the former Wells Fargo campus. Get more details on the plans, shifting this private space into a public section of the Phillips neighborhood. Twenty-four states have expanded access to accessory dwelling units (ADUs), making it easier for homeowners to build backyard homes. This ADU boom is increasingly leading to multigenerational living arrangements for grandparents, parents, and adult children. Minnesota has the opportunity to legalize ADU's statewide next session! Read more. ⏪ June Recap ⏪ At our End of Session Party, we celebrated our volunteers with a delicious spread, buzzing conversation, and our friends from the Yes to Homes Coalition! LVT Legislative Round Table Recording On June 24th, the MN Land Value Tax (LVT) Coalition held a roundtable session to discuss legalizing LVT as a development tool across Minnesota. Legislators and legislative assistants attended, along with bill authors and panelists Representative Elkins, Senator Fateh, Representative Jones, and policy expert Joshua Vincent.
